Lamentations: A Spiritual Art Experience

Tonight South County United had a night devoted to looking at how God's people have biblically dealt with pain, and using art to express our internal world to God. The evening was created with Lamentations as the guide. Very cool.

Here is my piece:

So here is general explanation:
The colors represent my relationship with God. The brown is me and my selfish sinfulness and the white in the center is God.
The clippings are excerpts from Psalms that reflect my heart at that moment.
The hand written words are my own groaning that are aligned with the verses.
The top clipping, which I wrote over to emphasis and to make my own, is the theme of the piece.
The child is me and a child-like faith leaping from the brown to the white and becoming a mixture of both brown and white. Showing my desire to leave the brown in my live and be taken over by the white and God's omnipotence.

Obviously I am not an artist, but it was awesome to be able worship God without using just words. Self reflection is not easy for me and this form of worship was really eye opening.

My heart tonight:
"Don't look the other way; your servant can't take it.
I'm in trouble. Answer right now!" Psalm 22:6 (The Message)

And The Rain Rain Went Away!

So resigned that I would not be able to ride I decided to drive down to HB and visit Breezy anyways. And when I got to HB it was sunny and beautiful with hardly any puddles. And as I drove by the arena everyone was riding just like normal. YEAHHHH. So I guess it didn't rain very hard there and I got to have my Saturday morning ride as usual!!! But, actually it was much better than usual. Rick had really worked hard with Breezy all week and fixed some issues. The circles were great and he came back practically perfectly every time with very little effort on my part. Then the turn arounds were great and the run downs were awesome. Last week I felt like I was having to work so hard to hold things together and if I made a mistake than everything would fall apart. Which totally stresses my out since in combat condition in the show pen with all the adrenaline flowing it is likely that I may not ride just perfectly. It has been so long since I have been in the show pen and feeling like I have to be perfect really stresses me out. So Rick really worked with Breezy to make him easier for me to ride, but with specific things that I can do incase everything starts to fall apart to be able to hold it together. This probably doesn't make much sense... But, let's just say I had a good ride.

Valentine's Date

A low key Valentine's Day, but quite enjoyable. Just went for dinner at Wahoo's and home to watch the Olympics.

It was eating at Wahoo's every Sunday after practicing to lead worship for our college group that we really developed a friendship. So Wahoo's is a fun and nostalgic place for us to eat together

Happy Valentine's Day

Valentine's Early

This morning, in our master bathroom, I kissed Dave goodbye and headed toward the bedroom door to leave for work, but the PJ started crying at me. And for some reason this reminded me to put on my wedding rings, which I had almost forgotten to do. So I headed back to the bathroom to the little dish on my vanity where I keep my small jewelry. I looked down at the small dish and located my weddingband immediately. As I was grabbing for it I noticed that my engagement ring looked shinier than usually...wait a minute! That isn't my ring at all. I pick up the imposter. It was the ring I had seen at Wal-Mart, of all places, weeks ago and had hinted to Dave that it might make a great Valentine's gift. I turned to Dave, who had a big smile on his face as he had apparently been watching the entire scene unfolding with glee (he just loves my confustion and surprise). What a great husband!!! He was set on surprising me and since he thought I was assuming that he would be getting the ring for me he decided (as is our tradition) to give it to me earlier to enhance the surprise effect. As he recapped the whole scheming plot afterwards to me he included the detail that he had made a plan with PJ that if I forgot my rings she would have to remind me to get them since I might be suspicious if he did it. It worked!!!

Saturday Morning - A Photo Journal

Had another good lesson this morning. And my wonderful/supportive husband came to watch me again. This time he brought the camera so I have lots of great pics to post.

Here we are doing big-fast circles to the left:

And here is a spin to the left. You can see his inside hind foot is planted and he is reaching to step around in the front. Looking good.

Here is a video of a run down and a sliding stop. You can see that as we run from one end of the pen to the other we are steadily gaining speed right up to the stop. We got just a little chargy at the end, but pretty good.

An after lesson thank you hug

Horse'n Around

Took yesterday off to get an extra ride in. Only 9 rides, including yesterday's, left before the Las Vegas Derby! Had a good ride on Breezy, even learned a few things. Then Rick had me ride 2 more horses. One of which was the horse he put me on for my 1st couple times back riding again when I had so much trouble steering (preBreezy). It was cool to ride the horse again and see the she has no steering problems and realize that it must have been 100% my issue. Wow, I have come so far in just a few months! But, boy am I sore this morning!
