Holiday Horse'n Around

No work today!!! Yeah!

So went to HB to take Breezy for a spin (or a few spins...ha ha ha). Anyways, my lesson was great. I spend most of the week contemplating where last weeks ride went array and turns out so did Rick. My contemplation concluded that I was having to use too much leg in the big-fast circles and need to get him moving off my cluck more. Rick's brain work yielded the need to spend some time warming up and taking the edge off a bit. We decided to implement both solutions and wha-la no more hind lead problems! And then when I went to fence everything just worked out perfectly. Rick said that I rode really smart and he was really pleased. I think last week I got myself all frazzled in the circles and just couldn't mentally recover causing issues with the run downs. So I feel much better now and like we are really learned something useful.

After I rode Breezy Rick had me ride 3 more horses. It gave me additional practice and that's 3 less horses Rick had to ride today. So it worked out well for all. However, I think I will be really sore tomorrow. In fact, my back is already sore!

Not sure if I will ride Breezy again tomorrow. Rick would like me too, but I was planning on staying home tomorrow morning. I will probably just wait and see how I feel in the morning and then go really early if I go at all. I of course would hate to pass up an opportunity to ride, but it isn't much fun when you are in pain and today was so great it might be wise to just end on a high note till next Friday.

My Mom's New Friend

Meet my mom's Miniture Horse, Miss Daisy. She is 10 years old and stands 33 inches high. That is actually pretty big for a mini. Most are under 30 inches! Miss Daisy is currently in foal and is due in June. She is very sweet and had lots of energy! She is trained to pull a cart. Can't wait to try that!

More Pics from Saturday

Thought this one was kinda funny, but as you can see I am actually having to urge him forward in the run down!

Me & My Breezy

Had another good lesson on Breezy this morning. Really working to refine everything now. Had some issues with Breezy dropping his hind lead when coming down from big-fast to small-slow. But, we got the issue resolved by me just holding with the outside leg through the center and asking him come down to slow with the inside leg only. He is just so sensitive. Which, is actually a really good thing, but I really have to pay close attention to what I am doing.

(As you can see, Breezy really wanted to talk to Dave on my cell phone)

Actually, Breezy is pretty much interested in whatever I am doing. It is really cute. He will even follow me around like a puppy. He is such a pet now. I just love him :o)

It's Offical

I will be competing at the All-American Reining Classic in Las Vegas in the Non-Pro Derby (since I don't really have any NRHA earnings I will also be competing the Intermediate and Limit Non-Pro derby which runs concurrently). The show is March 22-25, 2006. I will be sending in my entries this week. The tentative show schedule looks like I will be showing on Thursday in the 1st go round. Then the finals will be Saturday (the top 25 from the 1st go move on to the finals). This will be my first time showing in like 5 years so I don't have super high expectations, but I am really excited! My goal realistic goal is to make the finals. My lofty goal is to make the top 15. Winning is just too much to really hope for, but not totally completely impossible.

The Beginings of a Christmas Card

Still feeling a little under the weather so I just put some miles on Breezy this morning. Enjoyed the ride though. I just couldn't skip a second week of ridding in a row.

But, feel good or not, the deadline is coming up fast for getting the Christmas cards done so Dave drove down to HB and we took a few pics to be a starting point for this years creation.

Not sure which one we will use yet...
