PCHA Show

So the weekend before we left on vacation I had a horse show in Palos Verdes. It went really well. I met my friend Janine for breakfast at Marmalade Cafe and then got to the show around noonish. Rick had already ridden Breezy in the morning so I got to just hang out and enjoy the day. I hopped on about and hour before show time and schooled Breezy in a warm-up class. Rick said I got a good school in and I was ready to go. I needed 6 points to qualify for the J/L Baker Finals so that would take a 1st place. But, I wasn't too worried since there is still another show before the finals and then 2 qualifying classes the day of the finals. But, anyways, it went great! I felt really good as we walked out the gate and I awaited the announcement of my score. But, I got all the way out and to Rick and they still had not announced my score. I began to worry that I had gone off course, but Rick confirmed that I did really well and was totally on pattern. He told me that he thought it should be scored a 71, but not to get my hopes up because the score had been all over the place. Finally, the announced my score, "And the score for entry number 150, was a (I braced my self for a low score) seventy-three." A 73!!! I couldn't believe it. Rick and I immediately looked at each other, smiled, and shrugged our shoulders. That was the highest score of the day and there were only 10 or so horses left to go. The score actually held out until one of the very last horse. Bummer. The 3rd highest score in my class was a 70 so I still felt good. I got a 2nd place and 4 points. That means that I only need 2 more points to qualify (that's a 4th).

Here is a pic that the show photographer took:
